Sunscreen
UV rays intensify by 8-10% for every 1,000 feet of elevation gain. We recommend always wearing sunscreen!
Water
Altitude is dehydrating! It’s a good idea to start drinking extra water as soon as you arrive in Colorado.
Deep Breaths
At altitude, it’s harder for your body to take in as much oxygen. Remember to pace yourself!
Dress Code
Please dress semi-formal for the ceremony and reception: we want you to feel fabulous!
Our ceremony venue is not paved, so remember to wear shoes you can walk in on bumpy terrain.
Gifts
We’re choosing not to do a registry: the gift of your presence is more than enough.
Like most of you, we will be traveling to the wedding, and we feel it’s in simpler for everybody to travel as lightly as possible.
If you still feel moved, small sentimental gifts are welcome, but we would appreciate if you could send them to us at home.
Boulder Hotels
There are a ton of different options for where you can stay in Boulder!
If you want a hotel in town, our favorites are the Boulder Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott Boulder Canyon, Courtyard by Marriott, Basecamp Boulder, and Hyatt Place Boulder.
In an effort to help you find the perfect place to stay that also fits your budget, we’ve used Hotel Planner to negotiate discounted rates on some of the best spots in town:
Other Lodging Options
If you don’t want a hotel, we often use Airbnb to find a great spot in Boulder. We recommend searching in Boulder proper, but a stay in Gunbarrel, Niwot, Lafayette, or even Louisville would work. Public transit is best within the city, so double-check bus lines before booking if you aren’t going to rent a car.
More on Lodging
You can also find a hotel in Gunbarrel, Niwot, Lafayette, or Louisville, especially if you will be renting a car.
Boulder Fun
Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall is a can’t-miss for your trip: our favorite spot is Into the Wind kite and toy shop, but Charlie could also spend a happy year lost in the Boulder Bookstore. We also recommend hiking the trails at Chautauqua, grabbing a drink at the Rio Grande, or indulging in delicious food at the Taj Restaurant or the Walnut Cafe.
Denver Fun
Denver is only about a 45-minute drive from Boulder, and we always make a point to spend time there when we’re in town.
The Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are both spectacular. We love exploring the installations of Meow Wolf: Convergence Station, which is where we spent Devøn’s 30th birthday. The Denver Botanic Gardens will be stunning in June. And it’s also well worth a trip to the Tattered Cover Bookstore!
For food, Charlie and their dad both swear by Sam’s No. 3 Diner on Curtis Street, but vegans will want to try Watercourse Foods and beer-lovers should investigate this list of breweries with awesome eats.
